December pretty much went like every other year, but better! This year, the kids were so into Santa and giving and everything, I'm not sure if we'll ever have that again, since Gobbles is already becoming a bit skeptical. The weekends were consumed by birthdays, 20 mile runs in the freezing cold, and a ton of friends and family time.
I agonized for months over whether to have a joint birthday party for the kids, and if so, where and when. This is probably the only year that they have the combinations of friends that are siblings, so it was obviously the best time to go for a combo party. The holidays plus going away for the marathon really put a damper on plans, so their party ended up being on my 35th birthday - the week before we went away. Even though we had a bunch of no shows due to weather and sickness (this is probably something we should just count on every year with winter birthdays), they still had a ball with their closest friends.
