It's Gobbles Time!: Summer Flashback

Started the end of August, finished the end of Sept!

Welp, I'm behind again. Suprise surprise. School starts next week so let me try and finish out summer. So besides all the other stuff I posted in July, here's a snapshot / photo dump of what we did!

Fourth of July Weekend - on the third, we had a big bang BBQ with 50 of our closest friends (and about 25 of their kids). Hubs was leery about pulling it off but it seems we managed to throw it without a hitch. He seriously is the best giving into my we need to invite everyone so no one is left out mantra and hand pressed 80 burger patties, made 12 dozen wings, and stirred a boatload of of Mai Tais. Or Hurricanes. Who knows. I drank them and they were good. I hosted from group to group as we had our family, our oldest and bestest friends (my girls and some college buds), our daycare friends, and our neighbors. There was some inter-mixing of groups with the kids playing and stuff but mostly people spread out around the yard enjoying the swing set, slip n slide, yard games, or just chilling with each other. We managed to get everyone fed and hang out with everyone for a little bit each, the only thing we didn't do was take any pictures in between. I have a few from the start of the party and some from the late-night hangers-on. The kids rolled into bed after midnight and my awesome boy Gobbles slept until noon.

We laid pretty low for the day and made it out again for fireworks the next night. It was a little rainy but that didn't seem to deter anyone, and we had a tip from our friends to meet on some church's lawn instead of facing the parking mess at the football field. We had a great view, and the church had been putting on some kind of dinner, so they offered us water ice and pretzels. The kids happily obliged while we listened to the song and dance from the community members about joining their church. We smiled and nodded and just prayed they wouldn't kick us out after realizing we were only using them for their lawn. The kids enjoyed the fireworks and were pretty quiet on the way home until the Lobster let out a scream. I turned around and saw glow-stick goo on her lips. My 3 year old, who was potty trained before the age of 2 decided it'd be fun to chew on a dollar store glowstick. Hubs pulled over to a nearby gas station where I flushed her with water a bit and googled poison control stuff on the way home. After we forced her to drink an entire glass of milk we deemed her ok to go to bed, hoping she'd learned her lesson from the nasty taste and never want to do it again...

Over the next two weeks we had lots of relaxation time - chilling in the backyard on weeknights, a Lowe's build and grow morning, and a field trip with Gobbles to the Delaware Childrens' museum. We also managed to hit multiple playgrounds with friends and our dogs, and spent a ton of time at the pool just playing. The month ended with the Camping Trip I previously wrote about.

I'm sure there's more I wanted to say about July, but now it's all a blur of pictures and videos!
